Classically trained as an operatic lyric soprano, Carol de Leon received her Master of Music degree from California State University Northridge with an emphasis in performance. Carol has been a successful recitalist for over 10 years and a session singer for over 20 years. Carol’s approach to voice work uses principles of the Italianate Classical school of thought combined with modern pop techniques to provide a holistic framework of understanding and developing self-fluency for today’s contemporary singer. The specific skills pertaining to vocal technique and performance are based on underlying principles of coordination, cooperation with design (function), sustainability in service of artistic excellence.
Carol is currently researching Guatemalan poetry and short stories to develop new arrangements and repertoire celebrating her heritage.
