THE JAZZ HANDS JUNIOR ACADEMY

Individualized In-Home, In Studio and Virtual Music Lessons for Children on the Autism Spectrum

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Jazz Hands Junior Academy is a 12-week program that provides person centered training that helps aspiring musicians improve their social and musical skills.

After getting to know you and your child, we will assist in scheduling weekly music lessons with a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Trained Instructor. We will periodically check in with you, your child, and the instructor to ensure we are supporting your musician's needs.

CURRICULUM

Our Junior Academy allows for children (aged 8-17) to work individually with trained music instructors. Our instructors design a personalized curriculum for each student based on their strengths and preferred style of learning. The continuous communication amongst instructors, students, and Jazz Hands staff ensures that students are receiving excellent music instruction throughout their time in the program.

 FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.
  • What instruments do we offer?

Currently, we offer piano and guitar training, and we are hoping to expand to other instruments in the future.

  • Is it possible for students to join Jazz Hands' Musician’s Academy after they complete the Junior Academy?

While the J.A. is not a direct pathway to the Musician's Academy, students that are 18+ and have graduated high school are eligible to apply to the Musician's Academy.

  • Will lessons be virtual or in-person?

Right now, lessons are taught virtually. We hope to transition to in-person lessons soon.

  • Will Regional Centers help with the cost of lessons?

Yes, as of July 1, 2021, AB 136 was reinstated in California allowing Regional Centers to fund social recreational programs, like Jazz Hands for Autism’s Junior Academy. This means that your RC can fund your student’s lessons. To make this possible, we need to complete and submit a form (ISR form) to the RC with information about your child and the logistics of your child’s lessons. Please reach out to us at info@jazzhandsforautism.org about coordinating funding.

  • Is it possible to switch from one lesson length to another (i.e. change from 30 minutes to 45 minutes)?

Yes, it is. We ask that you stick to your initial lesson duration for a month as payment is often done in monthly installments. After 4 weeks or 1 monthly installment, you can change to a longer or shorter lesson time.

  • What are you payment and cancellation policies?
