Amy Thurmond

Driven by a lifelong passion for dance and the performing arts, Amy has directed and choreographed over 100 shows in her career and has had the absolute pleasure of teaching dance for over 40 years. Music and lyrics have underscored her life and are a part of every fiber of her being. Amy’s early career was split between life in corporate America as an ISO-9000 auditor and operations manager and as a dance educator. She wrote and won her first grant at age 19 for a performing arts organization, and that ignited a flame.  An English and Creative Writing major, Amy often worked several jobs supporting nonprofits with grant writing and development.  Corporate America soon gave way to the nonprofit sector, and that is where she has found the greatest joy. Using the written word to convey the exceptional work being done by nonprofits like JHFA keeps that flame burning brightly. In her spare time, Amy enjoys reading, tap dancing, playing tennis, writing and family time.
